Men Lie More Than Women but…

Being in research, I understand that things have to be looked into, checked, double-checked and researched again to get a clear picture of what’s going on in whatever niche of creation we’re looking into. ‘Course, confirming one’s hypothesis doesn’t hurt either.

A study, well a poll, was conducted and its results have recently been revealed.

The aim of the study was to find out which sex lies the most. The poll found that it is men who lie the most. Well, let’s hang a big ol’ “DUH!” on that one. I don’t now who funded the study or how many days/months/years of research went into it but I could have told you that.

In fact, if the people who commissioned the study would have bothered to watch Chris Rock’s 1999 show, “Bigger and Blacker”, he could have told you that, the pertinent excerpt,

Who are the biggest liars, men or women? Men! Women!
Men lie the most, women tell the biggest lies.

Men, we lie all the time.
We lie so much, it’s damn near a language.

lt’s like, to call a man out for lying…is like playing basketball with a retarded kid
and calling him for double dribble….

Men, we lie all the time.

You know what a man’s lie is like?
A man’s lie is like, ”l was at Tony’s house.”
”l’m at Kenny’s house.” That’s a man’s lie.

A women’s lie is like, ”lt’s your baby.”

We’ve all heard that one.

-”lt don’t even look like me.”
-”He’s got your hat.”

Here’s Chris on his way back from Kenny’s house

Human Brain ‘Hardwired’ to Believe in God? No Way!

At least that is what the following piece from the Daily Mail reports,

Brains ‘are hardwired to believe in God and imaginary friends’

There is really not much one can add to what the story says. I suppose the backhanded compliment aimed at those who accept reality (God exists) could be pointed out.

Also, lest anyone actually accept what, denial aside, all know to be true (God exists), the story makes it clear that the researchers behind these studies “stress” that these results don’t indicate that God or gods do exist.

Of course. I know from experience that taking off the blinders is not humanly possible even under the best of circumstances.

C. S. Lewis hit the nail on the head in Mere Christianity,

Creatures are not born with desires unless satisfaction for those desires exists. A baby feels hunger well, there is such a thing as food. A duckling wants to swim: well, there is such a thing as water. Men feel sexual desire: well, there is such a thing as sex.

If I find in myself a desire which no experience in this world can satisfy, the most probable explanation is that I was made for another world.

If none of my earthly pleasures satisfy it, that does not prove that the universe is a fraud. Probably earthly pleasures were never meant to
satisfy it, but only to arouse it, to suggest the real thing.

Long before he penned those words, Augustine of Hippo said this,

Thou hast made us for thyself, O Lord, and our hearts are restless until they find their rest in thee…

Without question, the idea presented by these two is not original. One gets the feeling they were drawing from a much older source, the Apostle Paul, who inspired God’s expired Word and shared it with the world.

It is truly astonishing how much some of the things said in the Daily Mail piece give testimony to what Paul wrote to the 1st century church at Rome,

For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, because that which is known about God is evident within them; for God made it evident to them.

For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse.

For even though they knew God, they did not honor Him as God or give thanks, but they became futile in their speculations, and their foolish heart was darkened.

Professing to be wise, they became fools… Romans 1:18-22 (emphasis mine)

The “Gay Gene” and Abortion

Caught this story from the AP,

“Study Seeks Genetic Links to Being Gay”

An interesting item from it,

Many gays fear that if gay genes are identified, it could result in discrimination, prenatal testing and even abortions to eliminate homosexuals, said Joel Ginsberg of the Gay and Lesbian Medical Association.

According to this statement from the Gay and Lesbian Medical Association (GLMA) website,

RESOLVED: that the Gay and Lesbian Medical Association supports the right of women to choose medical or surgical abortion, and be it further

RESOLVED: that the Gay and Lesbian Medical Association urges health care providers, in the context of a non judgmental sexual health history and when appropriate, to provide women with the full range of choices with regard to birth control so as to prevent unwanted pregnancy; and, if unwanted pregnancy occurs, with the full range of choices including abortion, and be it further

RESOLVED: that the Gay and Lesbian Medical Association affirms the right of all providers of reproductive health care to do their work free of harassment, intimidation, and danger.

I wonder how Ginsberg would mesh his statement in the AP piece and his organization’s statement?

If a prenatal test could reveal the sexual orientation of an unborn child (I know it sounds ludicrous but bear with me) and the expectant mother sought an abortion, would the GLMA then:

  • support the rights of this woman to choose medical or surgical abortion?
  • urge health care providers. to provide this woman (if saddled with this unwanted pregnancy because her child would be gay) with the full range of choices including abortion?
  • affirm the right of all providers of reproductive health care to do their work free of harassment, intimidation and danger, even from the GLMA itself?

I wonder if Ginsberg is “pro-choice”?

If so, I wonder if he realizes that he is now pro-life?
