The Ubiquitous Chicharito Tops Friday Linkage

Mexico’s rising star and child of promise, Javier “Chicharito” (Little Pea) Hernandez is everywhere. Scoring goals against the World Champs in Azteca, off his face against Chelsea in the FA Community Shield Cup; gracing the front page of the Daily Mail’s football section under “Premier League Podcast” (below, second from left), and last but certainly not least residing in the lung of a senior citizen.

The kid hasn’t played one game in the EPL and he’s put up next to League stars Fàbregas, Lampard and Gerrard. Hope the pressure doesn’t crush our beloved little pea…

and here is the smorgasbord that is, Friday Linkage:

The ‘Stros kind of get some overseas love, and yes she broke up with him but not over him letting her get hit by the foul ball...  The Faith of Katy Perry and the eventual fate of Katy Perry’s music…Yep, I’m one of these 40%ers Here’s a column titled, “America’s Biggest Jobs Program — the U.S. Military”, written by, wait for it, a Berkeley prof. Maybe not quite the inspiration for Gibby’s “eliminating the Pentagon” blast but… Apparently Jennifer Aniston drew the ire of former Inside Edition luminary Bill O’Reilly by believing it to be a good idea to drive a car with your feet. And oh by the way, Aniston paid it forward Puritan anchor babies, need I say more? Finally, we are less than a month away from seeing these boys (below) in action. #81 there to the right is all-around great guy Sam Acho, here’s a great story about him…

Our Dogs are Children, Our Children are Evidence

Please don’t misconstrue this post as another tired attempt at bemoaning how this country has gone into the toilet (to quote Chris Rock, “we’re losing everything”).

As if this nation was Utopia before certain ‘progressive’ elements imposed their worldview on the culture. It never was, it never will be, after all the literal meaning of Utopia is ‘no place’.

Let us also keep in mind what the Rob Bell (below) said.rob-bell1

His words are as follows,

Why blame the dark for being dark? It is far more helpful to ask why the light isn’t as bright as it could be

All that being said, check out the following story:

Miami abortion clinic owner threw live baby away, prosecutors say

If we can get past the contradictions in the headline and actually go into the story, it is acknowledged that the accused is alleged to

…delivering a live baby during a botched procedure and then throwing the infant away.

The child of course is dead, so what kind of charges is this woman facing? Involuntary manslaughter? Criminal neglect? Homicide?

No, rather “practicing medicine without a license and tampering with evidence.”

Where is Andy Rooney when you need him?

The Legend of Sloth

Our 2-year old son thoroughly enjoys watching “Go Diego Go” a spinoff of Nickelodeon’s Dora the Explorer. I’d like to think that he enjoys the show because of its deliberate attempt to introduce youngsters to some of the more exotic of God’s creatures.

The particular DVD he watches repeatedly features such South American luminaries as the maned wolf, pygmy marmoset, spectacled bear, Andean condor and last but not least the 3-toed sloth (below).

National Geographic

As a lad, my infatuation was with animals of the African Savannah due in large part to a book given to me by my folks. A book which in lieu of a ‘blankie’ or other such pacifier, I took with me everywhere I went and wore out until the binding came off.

All this to call attention to a story about sloths and the misconception that they completely and thoroughly live up to their name.

Sloth’s Lazy Image ‘A Myth’

I wonder what God thinks about us naming one of His creatures after one of the so-called 7 deadly sins…
