Jesus IS appalled, Mr. Edwards

In an interview with Beliefnet.com Presidential Candidate John Edwards made the following statement:

I think that Jesus would be disappointed in our ignoring the plight of those around us who are suffering and our focus on our own selfish short-term needs,” Edwards told the site. “I think he would be appalled, actually.

What’s the slip? He spoke about Jesus in the past as if He was dead or something, LOL. Was Edwards a consultant to James Cameron’s documentary?

As to what Edwards was addressing, yes Jesus is appalled at our sorry condition, that is the endless loop of selfishness inherent in each and every human being since the Fall.

In fact, Jesus is so appalled that He took it upon Himself to release us by paying the price for our iniquity by His sacrifice on the cross. Triumphantly He rose again on the third day to free us from this bondage, yet many resist this for the so-called benefits of “selfish short-term needs.”

One Response to Jesus IS appalled, Mr. Edwards

I agree with you completely, Jesus is appalled at both our lifestyle choices, our expenditures, our unwillingness to reach out to those who are in need. He is appalled at our sin, and our lack of shame over our sin. He is appalled at me, so much so that He went to the cross.
I just find it interesting that Edwards is talking about the way we spend our money, and he recently built a 24,000 square foot home.
