The Real Reason not to Celebrate Valentine’s Day

Now that Valentine’s Day is past, we can talk about this subject safely. There are many reasons not to celebrate this ‘holiday’: The ‘fact’ that it causes global warming, the extant expectations it places on men to buy “blood diamonds”, the runaway form of consumerism that it encourages, etc.

Nope I think I found the top reason not to get caught up in it: the imminent threat of getting pelted with footwear.

At least that is the belief of some radical Hindus cited in this story. Very strange…

I read the history of Valentine’s Day on the internet. Quite interesting, actually. And who was this St. Valentine, really? And what led to his demise?

As for celebrating Valentine’s Day, I think every day should be Valentine’s Day if you are with the one you love! Not the card/flowers/candy type of Valentines Day, but the love, consideration and respect for one another kind.

Of course there will be those that will commercialize it for profit. It’s called free enterprise! 🙂
