Presidents Carter and Clinton support the Great Commission

Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” — Jesus Christ

This is what followers of Christ have called “The Great Commission”. Jesus’ words summarize what our duty is as His followers in this present world. The commission applies as long as there are people who are not His followers (disciples). Admittedly, we have a hard time keeping His commission to us for a variety of reasons, most notably lack of faith.

I was shocked to learn that Presidents Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton also stand behind Jesus’ command to “go and make disciples of all nations…” Currently they are meeting with moderate (that is not from the Southern Baptist Convention) Baptist groups to try to improve the public perception of their denomination. This is what Mr. Carter said:

Our goal is to have a major demonstration of harmony and a common commitment to personifying and to accomplish the goals that Jesus Christ expressed…

There you have it folks. The goals Jesus expressed are found in the Great Commission, are they not? I, for one, am glad that our former Presidents have decided to go and make disciples of all nations, can I get an Amen?

Do I detect a note of sarcasm here, or am I just imagining it? 🙂

free, how can you doubt Mr. Carter’s drive to fulfill the Great Commission?!?! Next thing you know you’re going to tell me his buddy, Hugo Chavez, doesn’t give a hoot about the Great Commission either!

By the way Chavez sang the praises of our Lord and Savior by calling Him “the greatest socialist in history…”
