“Christians are a bunch of hypocrites”

As most of you know, the President of the National Association of Evangelicals, Ted Haggard, has resigned (as well as step down from the pulpit at his church) as some allegations were made by one Mike Jones, male prostitute.
The allegation is that Rev. Haggard, for a period of 3 years, paid Mr. Jones for sex. Rev. Haggard is an outspoken critic of gay ‘marriage’ and so IF these allegations are true, it makes him your run-of-the-mill Christian hypocrite. Hypocrisy is hardly a sin limited to Christian leaders or laymen, and I think it funny that most of the world acts like it is (I was reminded this afternoon by an unbelieving co-worker). His quote was “All priests (he meant pastors, a nod to his Catholic upbringing) are sickos”. How is that for generalization?
As for the world’s outrage at these allegations, I thought it was cool to be gay. Isn’t it intolerant and judgmental to believe/state otherwise? So the Reverend wants to test the waters, who are you to say it’s despicable?
Seriously though IF these things are true, I hope the good Reverend gets some help because yes he does have a problem of which homosexuality is merely a symptom. Fair or not, Christians in any position of leadership are to be held to a higher standard, the reasons are obvious, but here’s what Jesus’ half-bro James said about it:
“Let not many of you become teachers, my brethren, knowing that as such we will incur a stricter judgment…” (James 3:1)
Also let it be known that homosexuality is a sin not because Haggard, James Dobson or any other Christian leader seeking political influence says so. It is a sin because God says so. Our opinions, experiences, thoughts on this matter are quite irrelevant. God didn’t consult us when He created the Universe, He could care less about our own opinion on the matter.
