Geico Caveman’s Advice to Hugo Chavez

Could Fidelito (“Little Fidel”) be getting mixed signals?

In my former post, Theophilus, I wrote about all that Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez began to do and to teach before the U.N. General Assembly. How he got up there and spewed forth his fiery (excuse me, sulfurous) rhetoric. Mr. Chavez gallantly displayed the expertise he gained while attending the Jesse Jackson School of Demagoguery with a concentration in socialism. Of particular interest to me was his “El Diablo” blast directed towards George W. Bush. Yes he referred to our 43rd President as “the devil”.

Whether or not Mr. Bush is the devil, I can’t say and sadly neither can Mr. Chavez, all his bluster and Hitlerian style aside. I do however believe that Satan (a.k.a. the devil) is a real being who is ultimately doomed, but for now remains a powerful entity. Chavez’ comments piqued my curiosity and I decided to do the following: Look at some Biblical references of Satan and see how they stack up to President Bush, so sit back and enjoy.

Genesis 3:1 “Now the serpent was more crafty than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made”

Apparently we all are led to believe that Bush is anything but crafty, so this is one blow to Chavez’ proclamation

Ezekiel 28:13 “You had the seal of perfection. Full of wisdom and perfect in beauty…”

As far as I know, Dubya has never been accused of being wise or good looking, I could be wrong

Luke 4:1-2 “Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led around by the Spirit in the wilderness for forty days, being tempted by the devil.”

I can personally guarantee you that this episode will not show up in President Bush’s memoirs

John 8:44-45 “You are of your father the devil, and you want to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth because there is no truth in him. Whenever he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own nature, for he is a liar and the father of lies.”

OK, so now after I tell a lie, I can just say that George W. Bush made me do it, right? Or maybe when Bush ‘lied’ he could say that the devil made him do it right?

1 Peter 5:8 “Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.”

Mr. Bush, a roaring lion? People, I implore you, think about the imagery for a second. People have called our President a lot of things but when has ‘roaring lion’ figured into the discussion?

OK so the conclusion is that at least Biblically speaking, George W. Bush is not “El Diablo” as Mr. Chavez so boldly proclaimed. So seeming how the Bible is God-breathed and Chavez is a raving lunatic, I think I’m going to go with Scripture on this one.

Mr. Chavez would be better off listening to the caveman in the Geico commercial:

“Next time, why don’t you do a little research”
