Progressive Spirituality

Chuck Colson writes about the Spiritual Activism Conference in Washington D.C. The NY Times ran an article on the conference and stated the following: “Turnout at the Spiritual Activism Conference was high, but if the gathering is any indication, the biggest barrier for liberals may be their regard for pluralism…”

There are other pretty interesting quotes like this one:

“I thought this was a spiritual progressives’ conference. I don’t want to play the game of ‘the Bible says this or that,’ or that we get validation from something other than ourselves.”

I’m trying to reconcile the Christian worldview with the last part of the quote and failing miserably, if anyone can please let me know.  One possible explanation is that the source was taken out of context.
