I think the idea that southpark is moral is actually not very far fetched. If you seek to see past the low brow humor aimed at the younger crowd and look at the bigger ideas they present. (dont get me wrong I'm not trying to defend hanky the christmas poo or really in truth alot of the earlier seasons) I dont know who said it ,but i heard it just recently, "southpark has a dirty mind, but a heart of gold."
Furthermore i find that they try to portray both sides of an argument with a lot more conviction then most legitimate media outlets.

In what sense would you view South Park shameful?

Laz: The only time I called it shameful was in a comparison. In the sense that a Christian neglecting to share the hope he has is shameful. In the sense that Christians are quick to point out (and in some cases boycott) the sins (perceived or otherwise) of others, all the while neglecting to give credit to the Savior and the hope which He has brought.

Sure enough, they use crude humour and lots of expletives, but are they used for only shock value? The Evil Mickey episode was supposed to portray Disney as a power-hungry corporation, surely that is a palpable fact. If you were to view the manner in which the message was brought forth as 'shameful', then wouldn't you be suggesting that nudity in artwork, for instance, is a 'shameful' thing? Just my 2 cents.

Laz: My intent with this post was not to argue for the virtue/sin of South Park

nice post.

do you think He really got the physical? the painting shows us so...but i think gjohn leaves it ambiguous at least. i'm inclined to think He didn't. seems like thomas talked a big game, and then when the time came...he backed off his promise to touch and hit his knees. just a thought. see ya tomorrow morning.
